Designing green websites using green User Interface components improves their energy expenditure efficiency. This research aim to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Iranian digital libraries’ websites according to the UI Green metric criteria. This applied study adopted a webometrics approach. Our research population was 59 digital libraries’ websites. Our tool was a researcher-made checklist. Experts certified its validity. Its reliability was confirmed using Cronbach’s Alpha test (alpha=0.758). Websites were evaluated both by two online tool and by website advisors and designers. We analyzed data using descriptive and inferential statistics (binomial and chi-squared tests). Our results showed a significant difference in User Interface design between the studied websites (P=0.030). Most websites(28.8%) are middle-level. Academic (25.8%) and non-academic digital libraries (28.6%) are at a good level. Ranking the Iranian digital libraries showed that the digital libraries of Payame Noor University(by Ertebatat Payme Mashregh Engineering Co.), Fatemeh Masumah Holy Shrine (by Pars Azarakhsh), Astan Quds Razavi (by Astan Quds Razavi Holy Shrine) are in the excellent level by scoring the total 25 points. Two digital libraries, the digital Library of Iran University of Medical Sciences (by Yekta Web Afzar Shargh Co.) and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (by Pars Azarakhsh Co.), are in the last place in complying with the intended components by scoring 7. Iranian digital libraries have an above-average status in using the green User Interface. Furthermore, the green User Interface components of academic and non-academic digital Library websites were in good level.

Background and Objectives: The User Interface of libraries' websites has a decisive role in optimal performance, and libraries can, when they can, have a good performance so that Users can communicate with them. In this research, from the viewpoint of Library and information professionals, and from the point of view of compliance with the Nielsen ratings, it has been examined whether these criteria have been addressed in the design of the UI web site. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the Interface of the National Book Web site of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the level of compatibility of this website with Nielsen's components in a revealing approach. Methodology: The present study was a survey based on revelation evaluation. Nielsen's Revelation Assessment was first described in 1990 at the Human-Computer Interaction Conference, which included the use of a small set of evaluators to check the User Interface environment and to judge that the User Interface features are matched with pre-defined check log criteria. Simple random sampling has been used to choose, but considering that in the User Interface studies with an opposite approach, it is better to use expert data. In this research, two main criteria were the criterion for selecting the evaluators. Therefore, 37 individuals were selected randomly, which had two conditions: 1. having a minimum undergraduate degree in librarianship and apprenticeship; 2. Understanding the concept of the User Interface. Cranach’ s alpha coefficient was used to assess the validity of the check list. The results obtained with 77 questions on the 37 Users showed that its alpha coefficient is equal to 0. 96, which is a high coefficient. In order to assess the validity of the check list, Content validity method was used in this study. Findings: In this research, the pattern of revelation that has been identified by numerous studies as a valid universal model for measuring the User-environment utilization has been used to evaluate the User Interface environment. The results of the study showed that the degree of compliance of the Interface with the " The clarity and feasibility of the system", " the correspondence between the system with the real world", " stability and consistency", " aesthetic aspects and simple design", " recognition instead of reminding messages ", the components of "User control and release", "helping the User to prevent and correct errors", "flexible and system efficiency", "guidance and documentation" are modest, and the level of compliance with the "error prevention" component is very low. Also, the results of the evaluation indicate that on the website of the National Library of Iran, the criterion of control and freedom of action of the User of the website, with 37. 84 percent of the criteria, is more consistent with the criteria than the other components and the criterion of error prevention with a minimum of 19. 5 percent compliance is the least consistency. The Nielsen component has ten components. To further benefit from the website of the National Library of Iran, the problems in the web Interface that interfere with the Users' perception should be identified so that designers of the environment try to resolve their work problems. Considering that in this research, it has been attempted to review the problems of the system by observing all the problems of revelation, it is still possible that there would be problems that the evaluators have left behind. One of the problems found on this site is the bustle and confusion of the UI page. It is not possible to define a different User Interface for specific User groups. Data analysis showed that the Interface of the website Interface of the National Library of Iran with 10 components of Nielsen is generally higher than the average. This website did not have a desirable standard on some of the Nielsen model. Discussion: The review of the findings of the study on the degree of compliance with the criterion of visibility of the status of the system suggests that Users believed that the website of the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran will alert them to a great deal about what is happening through appropriate feedback. Also, regarding the compatibility measure between the system and the real world, the result showed that the User Interface of the National Library website is largely consistent with this criterion. It seems that the User-Interface designers of the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran website has been working more towards alignment between the system and the real world. The goal of each site is to help Users to interact more with the system; therefore, compliance with this criterion is the focus of attention on the User and his needs. Web site control and Users’ freedom of action has a special place in the User's minds, which attracts them and creates interest in them, increases User interaction and facilitates User interaction. The status of this benchmark is modest on the website of the National Library. Considering the importance of the flexibility and system efficiency, it seems that the designers of the website of the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran should place more emphasis on the components of the "possibility of color change", in specific cases by the User and "the possibility of personalization of the way information is displayed" in order to reach the desired level in terms of the "flexibility and system efficiency" criterion. Given the importance of benchmarking User assistance in identifying and correcting errors, the National Library website designers need to focus more on the components of helping Users identify errors and fix them, informing Users of possible errors and applied issues, so that this criterion lead to the expected and desirable situation for Users. In the "User control and freedom" criterion, it is not possible to define a different User Interface for specific User groups, as well as non-personalization of displaying existing information.

Purpose: The purpose of the present research is to analyze the elements and features of Pars Azarakhsh Library softwares User Interface and to determine of its Users' general satisfaction.Methodology: The method used to carry out this applied research is survey. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. The sample size was determined via stratified random sampling. To analyze the collected data descriptive statistics, T-Test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and SPSS software version 16 were applied.Findings: The most satisfying feature of Pars Azarakhsh Library software was ‘learning’ and ‘software application’ with average 2.17.Conclusion: Shahid Chamran University students have been moderately satisfied with Pars Azarakhsh Library software. So, to improve the efficiency and utility of the software some attempts are necessary.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the Children's National Digital Library of I. R. Iran. We strived to evaluate the User Interface (UI) of the Library with “general criteria for evaluating digital libraries” that have been extracted by Noruzi (2009) and functionalities of the Library by special criteria extracted by researchers.Method: The study used an evaluative document study method. The researcher used to compare the User Interface and core functionalities of the Library against extracted criteria.Findings: Findings of the study showed that conformation rate of the Library's Interface with the general criteria was 28/62 percent and this account for general and special criteria was 91/90 percent.Results: Combining the obtained results in evaluation of User Interface from the viewpoints of public and special evaluating criteria, the National Library of Children and Adolescent have suitably operated.

Background and Aim: The main objective of the research is to determine the understanding level of the students of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in the terms used in User Interface of SIMAD Library software. Methods: The study is an applied research with survey descriptive method. Research population was Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, including 24346 students of whom 164 were selected as sample. Data was collected through questionnaire and SPSS software was used as an instrument for the analysis of the data obtained. Results: The results indicated that the User's level of understanding of terms used in the User Interface is not desirable in objective method (23 words investigated). However, regarding subjective method (the items of the Likert scale) the level of understanding is acceptable. Furthermore, the grammar and the length of the phrases used in the User Interface do not result in better understanding of the Terms. Finally, there is not a significant difference between students' understanding level of Terms and students' educational level and field of study in both objective and subjective methods. Conclusion: To design an appropriate User Interface for information retrieval systems, the needs and level of comprehension related to the Users must be taken into consideration. However, in other to increase the Users’ ability in making use of Library software, educating the Users appears to be of cardinal importance.

Purpose: The present research aims at evaluating User's satisfaction of Interface of virtual reference service of National Library and Archives of I.R of Iran (NLAI). To do this, the demographic information, computer technologies used by Users and the extent to which Users of virtual reference were satisfied with the User Interface were assessed.Methodology: The methodology used is survey. So, the extent to which Users of virtual reference were satisfied with the Interface was measured through an electronic questionnaire. The population study was 1825 Users of virtual reference desk during a year of which 317 were selected via systematic random sampling based on Morgan's table. Findings: Most of the Users were women (52.05%). Most of them had academic education and 51% graduated in Humanities fields. Most of them (66.80%) used Windows XP, 65.22% used Internet Explorer and 45.74% used Yahoo e-mail service. Users were greatly satisfied with the User Interface of virtual reference services. Users tended to use the virtual reference services via E-mail (50.20%) and Chat (38.34%), respectively. Conclusion: Based on the findings, although Users were satisfied with User Interface of virtual reference service, it is necessary to review and redesign it according to User’s views and various computer technologies.

The purpose of this study was to explore the Users’ experience of web content of the National Library and Archive of Iran. To investigate the User experience, a contextual inquiry was conducted to gain an in-depth understanding of Users and the context of their real work. Data analysis was also used to complete the results. Contextual inquiry is an interpretive and qualitative approach in the form of semistructured interview which is based on conversation with Users. “ Sentence completion” is a kind of UX method in which Users completed some statements about the website of the national Library and archive of Iran. The results revealed eight general categories about the User expectations and experiences on the web content of National Library and archive of Iran, including search, research utilities and knowledge development, personalization and customization, Library space and in-site location, interaction, events, information architecture, and design and appearance. The results provide proper basis for the development of the website of national Library and archive of Iran and similar libraries as well as digital Library software. These results, along with suggestions for improving the User experience of the National Library Web site, provide valuable ideas for entrepreneurs and business startups and app designers about real needs and expectations of Users.

Objective: To determine the components of the User-website Interface affecting the interaction on the web (studied by the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran) on the rate of Users' use of the website to retrieve information. Methodology: The statistical population in the qualitative part was the experts of the National Library of Tehran and sampling in the qualitative stage was targeted and the number of samples was determined based on theoretical adequacy. In a small part, the statistical population was all Users of the National Library of Tehran, which according to Morgan table, the sample number was 384 people. Data were also collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and analyzed using structural equation model, SPSS software, and LISREL. Findings: The results of structural equations also showed that the effect of User-website Interface components on web interaction was positive and significant and according to the results of Friedman test, website technical design had the greatest effect on Users' motivation to use the National Library website. Originality: From the Users' point of view, all the studied components are very important in their reuse of the National Library website. Therefore, it is recommended that the designers and experts of the National Library pay attention to the criteria set out in this research and the principles of User-orientation when designing the User-website Interface.
